Creative Space Arts Retreat

Spectrum School of the Arts and Gallery hosts "Creative Space" in October - annual arts retreat. It's a wonderful art-filled weekend and perfect getaway for any creative! Photos and additional testimonials can be found below. Registration for Creative Space is currently closed. If you're interested in attending the 2026 retreat, please keep an eye on this space for updates, check out our Facebook page, and sign up for our email list (Home page). Thank you!
Our arts retreat provides the opportunity to stay focused on a specific project or multiple disciplines in a peaceful, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere. We invite you to stay on the DeKoven grounds in Taylor Hall and fully immerse yourself in your project(s) - work solo or in the company of others. We host an optional casual community gathering each evening of the retreat for those who would like to share what they're working on.

Donations for the Scholarship Fund: Each year we accept scholarship applications for those unable to afford the full cost of the retreat. The scholarship offerings are made possible by the generosity of supporters in our community. If you would like to contribute to our scholarship fund, please head over to our DONATE page. Thank you so much for helping local creatives!
“Where else can you feel most welcomed and encouraged in a non-judgmental environment; experience total freedom in solitary pursuit or spontaneous creative collaborative combustion; be an early bird or night owl; hang out and/or stay overnight in historic neo-gothic buildings; draw, paint, journal, sew, silkscreen, and collage to your hearts content; be inspired by views of autumn woods and Lake Michigan; create a photogram out of nature’s bounty in a darkroom; share ideas and artistic journeys; present a compelling prologue, light up a labyrinth and capture the full moon, sculpt pots that mirror the aging process, play music and play off of each other; recite a poem and let your hair down - and enjoy the roots as well; make new friends and inspire old ones; have meals and snacks available- catered to all dietary needs; hear an original ballad sung with a ukulele; free-stlye ramble with sparkling expression, write letters to burn; get a T-Rex sneak peak, and have audience with a PG Burlesque performance accompanied by a classical pianist? - Creative Space at Spectrum Gallery and DeKoven Center in Racine, Wisconsin - that’s where! Last weekend in October. Welcoming future creative experiences in all arts disciplines!” - Denise Zingg (Founder/President)
